Description
Chapel of St. Peter and Paul are located southeast of the entrance, in the axis of the fourth pavilion, one field away from the arcade. This axis is the second main axis of Mirogoj, at the end of the ale is a semicircularly organized part of the cemetery - in this shifted symmetry we can see the influence of modern perseverance. The Orthodox chapel was erected in 1891, according to Hermana Bollé's project. The building is completely central, small, but monumental. The style chapel is a typical work of Bollé's eclecticism - we can describe it as a Neo-Byzantine ('Orthodox') style, manifested in the emphasized centrality and domination of the dome. However, before Bollé's free interpretation, it is a pure neo-Byzantine style. The equipment of the chapel was made by the Crafts School - Ikonostas was painted by Robert Auer, and the work of sculpture was made by Ignjat Franz.
