Description
Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, unique cultural and political history, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979.
The most beautiful street in Dubrovnik is named Placa, known as Stradun, has always been the natural center of the city of Dubrovnik. It is located in the heart of the old city center of Dubrovnik and connects the eastern and western city gates. It was built in the 11th century by the covering of the seafront, and in today's Baroque appearance it dates back to the time of the great earthquake in 1667, when it was completely restored. According to the urban plan of the ground floor houses, located on Stradun, were intended for shops, and their typically rounded neck 'knees' were conceived for easier display of goods in the maximum utilized space. The architectural solution of this most famous street in Dubrovnik reflects the harmony of the entire old city core.
Today, Stradun has galleries with pictures of renowned Dubrovnik artists and souvenirs. Stradun is 298 meters long and it can be easily walked for ten minutes of light walks, but for Dubrovnik it is the longest street in the world where 'anger', everybody knows, greets, comments on daily events or observes the life of the city.
The Stradun testifies to many of the first love and is the perfect scene for lovers of couples from all over the world.
