Description
Poinsettia, Euphorbia pulcherrima, or how it is also called the poinsettia, a plant from the Euphorbiaceae family, originally from Mexico, South America and Africa, is known as a Christmas decoration. Botanical name Euphorbia named after Euphorbus favorite doctor Numidia's king Juba, who, according to legend, first used poisonous juice poinsettia, and it apparently as a medicine.
The natural habitat of shrub grows up to 5 meters, or from 0.5 to 4 m high. Poinsettia has a small yellow flowers, which are surrounded by bracts red, white and pink, and at first there was just the kind of intense red leaves. Bracts are painted in floral leaves that in autumn appear at the tips of stems and which can be up to 25 centimeters long.

Gorgeous! For me no poinsettia at Christmas would be almost as bad as no Christmas tree. We have still got ours from 2019 sitting in a corner of the kitchen with two red leaves. We hope that it will wake up again in the late autumn. Unfortunately our climate is too harsh for them to overwinter outdoors. Cudos to you on your red collection, Jasna! Reds are incredibly difficult to photograph well.

Many thanks Kathryn! One year my poinsettia stayed and let out new leaves. Still, didnโt stay another year, itโs very hard to succeed.
