Description
In 2000 he was named the Croatian national flower of the proposal of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
The name derives from the name of the Greek goddess of rainbow, vocal gods Iride (Gr. - rainbow), and our name iris comes from the name of the supreme Slavic god thunder Perun and his wife, the goddess Iris.
The goddess Iris, like the messenger of the gods, roamed the rainbow from above, conveying the message to Earth. Where the rainbow would touch the ground, as well as the lightning of the thunder god Perun, an iris grew, perhaps a different color each time.
Due to its beauty and national importance is very common motif in my painting.
