Artist's Description
The start of construction of Calvary falls during World War II. The editing of Calvary, begun by the imaginative Archbishop of Dr. Alojzije Stepinac, is undoubtedly one of the most important undertakings.
In that period, which can be considered as the first phase of establishment, Kalvarija is spatially-urbanistically completely shaped according to the original concept of "Kalvarija in the open" or "on the hill". In 1941, the first four stations were established: I. Pilate condemns Jesus to death, II. Jesus Receives the Cross, III. Jesus falls for the first time under the cross and IV. Jesus meets his mother. The figural compositions of these scenes, in large postcards, carved out of karar marble, work from afar as living scenes.
During the seventies and eighties, works continued on Calvary. Renewal of the old ones (1989) and the installation (1977-1990) of the remaining eleven stations of the Crossroads lasted from 1977 to 1990. This was decided by the Archdiocese Bo...

Kunchar Asthula
Religion is responsible for killing more people than people killed in World War One and two combined. Unfortunately, both are businesses created by the dirty and cunning mind of man. From artwork point of view, a superb capture of a remnant of memories of the destruction of man caused by man. F/L.
Jasna Dragun replied:
Thank you very much Kunchar!
