Description
Brugmansia suaveolens or angel trumpet is the most common type of brugmansia that is grown in our country. It is a perennial native to the rainforests of Brazil where it grows endemically on the edges of rainforests and along river banks, in humid and warm conditions. It can grow up to 5 meters in warm areas.
The plant has large oval dark green leaves about 25 cm long, which grow larger in partial shade, while in the sun they are slightly smaller. The flowers are large trumpets facing down. They usually bloom in white, and can be in yellow and pink. Today there are thousands of cultivars of Brugmansia and most originate from Brugmansie suaveolens. So there are extremely beautiful species with double, double and even triple flowers. They smell intoxicating, but the smell is felt only in the evening. The flowers are semi-open during the day and fully open in the evening.
