Description
The turtles are one of the most successful groups of animals, retaining their unique and unusual body structure almost unchanged from the upper Triacs when their first true ancestor appeared (200 million years). The outer structure of the turtle body is unique, and therefore very familiar to all. Their anatomical shape is one of the most interesting adaptations in the vertebrates world, and the recognizable armor covering their body is undoubtedly one of the factors contributing to the survival and obviously successful evolutionary process of these mysterious animals. We are located in reptiles whose oldest fossil remains dating from the Perma period (280 million years).
Ordinary Chancellor -Testudo hermanni
Extremely significant is the protected species of Croatian fauna. It houses a relatively narrow and fragmented area of the European part of the Mediterranean. In Croatia it is common in Dalmatia to the northwestern border. In continental areas our country does not come naturally. We are located in the area from Konavle to the Neretva valley and the islands.
This turtle is only herbivore. In captivity, it usually eats salads and fruits. An ordinary chanter lives on dry, rocky, bushy overgrown warm Mediterranean hinterlands.
Avoid extreme temperatures, the winter period in idle mode is carried out shallowly buried under the ground. Before it cools well, this is usually at the end of October, a lunatic in the country excavating a hole where it will be waiting for hot spring days. From winter to sleep in March and April when you find a partner for mating.
