The beautiful botanical garden is a favorite destination of the Zagreb walkers as well as numerous tourists visiting the city of Zagreb.
The idyllic greenery, various protected and endemic plant species celebrates 125 years of its existence and is located in the very center of the city.
This beautiful botanical garden was bright in 125 years ago. He officially belongs to the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Zagreb, and the founder of this green city idyll is prof.dr. Antun Heinz, from the 19 th century.
To realize the idea of the development of a botanical garden as a learning place comes from prof.dr. Bohuslav Jiruša. Up to now the idea of Professor Bohuslav has been realized in many segments, and today is the second home for biology students. The botanical garden itself is small in size and extends to 4.5 hectares, and the space limitation also influenced the planting of various plants.
The botanical garden in Zagreb is rich in a variety of plants. According to the latest data there are about 5000 species, of which 300 are protected.
