Description
The Heather comes from Asia and Europe, where in nature they grow in mountain pastures and scorpions, and in pine and oak forests.
It is an evergreen low shrub that can grow to 20 to 50 centimeters in height and width, and rarely up to one meter. The shade often blends with Crnjuš (Erica carnea) for a similar appearance, though it can be easily distinguished by the shape of the leaves. The heather has tiny oval leafs arranged opposite to the thin shoots, while Crnjuš has needle leaves collected in four groups. The color of the leaves is usually dark green in some cultivars and light green. The flowers are small, bell-shaped and arranged along the stem. They come in white, various shades of pink to purple and red. Flowering starts at the end of summer and lasts until late autumn. Part of the flowers are held over in the winter although they lose color and fall slowly, but they are still a garden decoration.
Its natural role is also useful - the developed roots system keeps the ground from rinsing with water. Beech mead, in particular, priced beekeepers for good bee keeping for bees and obtaining high value and healing of additionally honey.
