Description
Bergenia / bərɡɛniə / (elephant-eared saxifrage, elephant's ears) is a genus of ten species of flowering plants in the family Saxifragaceae, native to central Asia, from Afghanistan to China and the Himalayan region.
They are clump-forming, evergreen perennials with a spirally arranged rosette of leaves 6-35 cm long and 4-15 cm broad, and pink flowers
Resistant perennials, very common in rural gardens.
It can thrive on a variety of positions because it is very flexible and resistant.
Most suits her semi-shady position in the garden, but the sun will grow very well if it is sufficiently moist soil.
Planted in the shade will have a nice big leaves, but less flourish.
It blooms from third to fifth month a group of flowers on elongated stem.
The flowers can be pink, white and various shades of red.
Bergenia decorated with beautiful, large, round leaves open greens that grow in width, so it needs a lot of space.
Plants need to plant them in nutritious, humus, permeable, and still moderately moist soil.
When planted in a sunny location should be still regularly watered.
Propagation is by division in spring after flowering or in autumn.
It grows to a height of 40 cm - when they bloom and grow leaves in width.
My today's snapshot of this beautiful flower.
