Description
Spring crocus (Crocus vernus) is a perennial that blooms in the garden when the snow melts in the period from February to May. The wild forests and meadows white and blue, while the cultivars saffron flower larger and richer colors: except white and blue, we find more and purple, pink and yellow saffron and white streaked with purple.
Spring crocus should not be confused with saffron from whose pistil gets precious spice: saffron spice. Crocus sativus blooms in the fall, has a different shaped, bigger and broader flower intensely yellow-reddish Tucci that are significantly longer than the petals of a flower (as with spring crocus is not the case). They are resistant to low temperatures, the greater the propagation of stem bulbs. With ornamental cultivars Crocus spp., Which are available in stores, there and Crocus vernus, which is a wild species that grows in the forests and meadows.
