The Church of St. Vid, located in the middle of the field at the entrance to Vid, is among the elderly in the area. Although experts disagree on the time of its formation certainly known to have been built on the site of a much larger church - one of three early Christian basilicas in the former Narona.
At the site of the present church of St. Vid, in the fifth century. Was built nave early Christian church with a semicircular apse, the hall and the annexes to the north and south sides of the church. The church was almost 30 m long and 25 m wide. Unlike Salona type of early Christian churches, which are annexes, if they existed, were concentrated in the inner part of one of the side walls Naronitan type of early Christian church characterized by smaller rooms along both walls of the basilica .
As Christianity spread from Narona to the interior, it is this type of church extended the inland province of Dalmatia, especially along the river Neretva in Herzegovina.
The fall of Narona in early July. st., church probably cease to function. After that loss occurs using this site until XIV. and XV. c. when the ruins of the church occurs late medieval cemetery, which completely negates the remains of the church architecture. Negating the cemetery at this place in the XVII. c. built the current church of St. Vid, which is part of the south wall of the remaining wall of the ancient church.
The church of St. Vid is an exhibition from the site to the early Christian church, and medieval cemeteries, and through billboards displayed the pelvis with polychrome frescoes. The architectural remains of an early Christian church can be seen in and around the church, a stone cornice baptistery was built in the floor of the present church of St. Vid, while itself pelvis preserved in its original level.
