Description
Fire thorn (Pyracantha coccinea) is a shrub for all seasons, but particularly interesting in autumn-winter period when creates extremely decorative fruits in yellow, orange or coral-red.
Allows the introduction of color and exuberance in parts of the garden that during the winter due to the dormancy become unsightly. The fruits of this shrub is often retained on the plant until the beginning of spring. Flowering begins in May. The flowers are also very decorative, small and are grouped in bloom white. The flowers develop small fruits which are initially green and in late summer, depending on the variety take on the final color. In addition to the wonderful fruits, plant characterized by extremely thorny spikes - hence the name fiery thorn.
