Description
Antun Gustav Matos (Tovarnik, June 13, 1873 – Zagreb, March 17, 1914) was a Croatian poet, novelist, columnist, essayist and travel writer. He is considered one of the best Croatian writers.
Sculpture "Matos on the bench" by Ivan Kozarić located on Strossmayer promenade in the center of Zagreb and is an indispensable item in the tourist walking around old town. The sculpture was placed at its current location in 1972. It is made of aluminum. The reason is in the very center of the city is that it is Matos, although he was born in Zagreb, very loved and appreciated this town. Since the Strossmayer Promenade is located in the Upper Town of "Matos perspective" offers a view of almost the entire city including the home of his parents, which is located in Jurjevska Street.
