Bacina Lakes are a collection of lakes in Bacina the city of Ploce on the right (north-west) side of the mouth of the river Neretva in Dubrovnik-Neretva (Croatia).
The lakes are relatively small (138 hectares), but are among the most interesting phenomena in karst hydrography. Irregular in shape, which is particularly reflected in the bottom relief.
The water in them is sweet and has a source that are linked directly to the sea. The lakes are crypto, depressed, which means that the bottom of the lake below sea level. On the lakes are three small islands and two tunnels. The first connects the lake to the sea, so that excess winter water brought into the sea and prevent flooding.
Bacina Lakes are a natural pearl of preserved nature, composed of seven beautiful lakes, six of which were linked to blue-green medal are embed between the Neretva River Delta, the sea and the surrounding hills, two kilometers from the panel and from which direction it comes, traveler paused breath. The best and most beautiful experience is sailing on the lakes in the traditional Neretva boat and feel clear water under the fingers, the water in which there are still fish, eels and frogs, whose shores are surrounded by reeds hiding songbirds and waterfowl and where many secrets yet to be discovered.
